Just saw a documentary about this issue and felt sad about the story. The narrative started with a woman who became a surrogate mother of a Chinese baby. She met a Chinese couple, and she was offered a huge amount of cash; unfortunately, by the time the embryo was inserted to her, the clinic got raided. She was put behind bars for a month then went home to our home country. The recruiter hid him/herself after her arrest and she was not able to acquire the money that was being agreed upon. In our home country, she gave birth and now, the child is already in grade school. I'm not familiar with the rules with regards to surrogacy but I just found out that after the baby is born, the parents will get the baby and that's the time the cash will be given. There's also a contract for it that the surrogate mother will not have the right nor access to the baby anymore. As a pregnant woman myself, I can really say it's tough letting go of the baby just by thinking about it. I know it's their choice but just too painful to imagine.
