In today's digital age, I see a lot of people around me, who have left, I can say, abandoned reading - the habit of reading. Well, let's also include digital reading here, Kindle etc. I'm specifically talking about my experiences here. A lot of people don't even read the daily newspaper, let alone perusing reading as a hobby. Holding a book physically is long gone. How about your reading hobby? What book have you read lately? Did you find it interesting?

I just read a book by Atul Gawande. I have read almost all of his books, and each one is impactful. “Being Mortal” is the book of his I just read, and it was excellent. He’s a doctor, and his insights and advice are things that have stuck with me. I actually got my dad to read a few of his books, then my dad passed them on to his friend to read. I never did get my books back!

Yeah, who hasn't heard about Dr. Atul Gawande. His parents come from my state - Maharashtra, though he himself was born there in the US. There is no doubt that his writings are quite impressive. I have never read "Being Mortal", though. Every time there is something that takes me to this particular book. I make it a point to read. And then it gets lost in other things and responsibilities. And again I'm talking about this book. But this time, I'll definitely start reading. I have heard about this book. So, I'm sure it's worth the time.

@abhi_bangal His parents come from your state? That’s a great claim to fame. I’m always glad to find someone who knows his work. Way too many people have not heard of him.

@AmbiePam Claim to fame... I loved that thought. But yes, that's true. Yeah his work is noteworthy enough to be talked about and to be shared. But the sad thing is that many people really do not know much about him. If by chance we discuss something related to this category, and I mention his name, people say, who is that guy? How sad it is to hear I can imagine that.

I have not read a book in a long long time. The last book I read was one I had read many times. The Catcher in the Rye.

There's no harm in repeating a book that you have previously read. It still means you are in the reading zone. And that's what matters. The Catcher in the Rye - who has written the book and what's the topic by the way? I have never read that yet.

@Ineeddentures That's so nice of you that you have not only given me the writer's name, but also the wiki link. It will definitely help me understand better. And it's not like the link will explain it better. Even you could have done the same thing and I am sure about that.

I have started a number of books lately that I didn't finish. However, one that I did read all the way through was What Does it Feel Like, by Sophie Kinsella (Confessions of a Shopaholic. She discusses life after a having a brain tumor with a devastating cancer diagnosis.

Ohhhh... does that happen with you too!!?? I mean, my span of concentration is not much, I should say. Because I start a book. Read a few pages. And then I get bored. I want to read something else. Reading the same thing again and again becomes redundant - though that isn't really the case with me. Then I feel, I should read something that interests me. That will at leas give me some motivation and inspiration to read. But I complete the same vicious circle In this way, I too keep a few books unfinished. Is there any way out I can focus and complete the books that are in the pipeline? Just asking

I just finished a book called Happiness Falls by Angie Kim. I really enjoyed it, but no one else in my book club enjoyed it. I'm reading How to Solve your own Murder by Kristen Perrin. I'm enjoying that While driving, I listen to books. I just finished listening to A Great Country by Shilpi Somaya Gowda. The next time I drive, I'll be listening to Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng I'm always reading. What do you like to read?

It's not like if you like a movie, a book, a dish, etc. someone else close to you should also like it. If no one else likes what you - Happiness Falls, in this case, don't fret. May be, you may not be enjoying what they may be reading. We are all unique individuals. Oh sorry for that unasked advice. People are so expert in doing this thing. And I'm one of them, looks like As for me, I have read Shakespeare - not all, but a few definitely. Then there was "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe and "Pride and Prejudice" by Jane Austen. I'll never forget these two novels ever in my life. And there's one more - "The White Tiger" by Aravind Adiga.

I haven't read a book recently. I find the small print too hard on my eyes. I have a whole bookcase of books to read.

A whole bookcase to read?? Then you have a lot of work in your hands. Well, jokes apart, but yes, reading written smaller prints can be a bit hard. I'm sure you might be using glasses.
