Working from Home: Convenient or Slowly Driving You Crazy?

Hey Mylotters,
I’ve been working from home for a while now, and while I do appreciate not having to commute or wear "real" pants every day ??, I’m starting to feel like I never really leave work.
The lines between personal time and work time have gotten so blurry. Sometimes I find myself replying to emails at 9 PM or thinking about work stuff while I’m trying to relax. My home doesn’t even feel like a break anymore—it just feels like the office that never closes.
On the other hand, I know I’d probably complain if I had to go back to a regular office 5 days a week again, so… I guess there’s no perfect setup?
Just curious—if you work from home (full-time or part-time), how are you coping? Do you love it, hate it, or feel stuck somewhere in between?
Have you figured out a good way to separate your work and personal life when it all happens under the same roof?
Would love to hear your experience.

I've been working from home full time since mid-March 2020.
I just love it.
I have my office as my dedicated work space, and do not go in there if I am not working.
I love to do different things on my breaks and lunches.
In the nice weather I will sit outside for my lunch which really is relaxing.

That sounds like a great setup! Having a dedicated workspace helps keep work and home life separate. Sitting outside for lunch sounds so refreshing—definitely a nice way to recharge. I'm glad to hear you’re enjoying working from home!
I don't do anything exciting during 9-5 but sometimes I do go to Dance class in the evening time.

I´m retired andthe kind of work I did when I worked needed presence. But my eldest daughter is very happy working online. She is a psychologist and works online. Now she is in Spain ( visiting her son) and sees her patients online.

I don't have a traditional work from home job that requires deadlines. I do a lot of side wowork, that I literally control. Myles is one of those jobs. So, by thinking in this mindset, I'm able to establish a work-life balance pretty well.
I used to think that I needed to physically leave the house, but I'm finding that I don't. By doing gig work, where I set the pace and make the rules, I like it more. If my husband needs me, I can close the laptop and walk away. Or, put the phone down.I think that's what has helped me stay sane. I live with my husband, who is recovering from a stroke. So, knowing that I can drop what I'm doing to tend to him, helps.
If you're struggling with a work-life balance, you might need to be more disciplined and set a schedule for yourself. Ensure that work time is work time. Use routines or focus modes to help keep you on track. They really can help a lot. For example, when I have my work mode on, then e-mails that aren't important are blocked and appear when the focus mode is off.
