The law requires that all villages in the country should conduct village assembly at least twice in a year. It was supposedly scheduled during March and October. But because of the recent conduct of local elections last May, I decided that assemblies of the villages in my area of jurisdiction be conducted this month of June. Another assembly that I attended this Saturday was the village near the town proper. The activity started at 3 in the afternoon and was attended in by the residents of the village. I discussed several topics such as the conduct of the clean-up drive every week, having a community garden, and clearing of the road right of way. It was supposed to be my rest day but because they head of the village sent an invitation, I attended the activity. This is still part of my job and public service. Enjoy your weekend, friends!

I discussed about the different programs of the government such as clean-up drive, having community garden, road right of way clearing and encourage them to participate in those programs. I also told them that this is the venue so they can raise their concerns or questions about the finances and other programs.

It's mandatory for the officials of the villages to conduct assembly twice a year. Though most of the times, residents don't want to attend for some reasons.

Looks like it was busy. What do you do at these assemblies - do you make decisions after these discussions to implement

Yes, it was indeed a busy day. Part of my job is to monitor the implementation of the government programs in the villages as well as the municipality where I am currently assigned. I also provide technical assistance and this activity is part of that. Thank you for dropping by.

That's the picture being a public servant cannot refuse the call. At least the village assembly was successful.

Thank you. The assembly was supposedly conducted last March but because of the local election, I encouraged them to move the date, that's why they are only conducting this June. I don't want this event to be used in any political activity.
