Is it the right time to disband United Nations (UN)

During our school days, we had detailed chapters on United Nations - its establishment, charter, its associated divisions like UNICEF, WHO, UNESCO etc. Coming after the dastardly WWII, it was meant to be a custodian of peace and resulting prosperity in the World. Yet, almost 80 years down the line, UN seems toothless, ineffective and increasingly irrelevant. Nobody listens to it for halting wars and ceasefire. WHO seems unable to provide a cohesive course of actions. UNSC - The security council is still dominated by top 5 Nations, at the cost of a few more deserving Nations. Resolutions are floated and can be ineffective. In such a scenario, isn't it time to disband UN? Or at least shift its headquarters? Thoughts?

@TheHorse I think you are right. The world just after the WWII had probably more of idealistic visions after so much destruction. Yet Cold War, Arms race etc. have led to UN becoming irrelevant. Plus its dependence on a few major powers for funding is also a minus.

All these organisations are a waste of time. Because when one country can veto a policy the other members agree on is just plain stupid. The UN is toothless Look what goes on in Gaza right under their noses. Everyone wants a ceasfire, but Israel doesn't, so America vetos, AND THE GENOCIDE CONTINUES.

@Ineeddentures Retribution and attack against Hamas was fine for 7 Oct 2023. However, the continuing attacks are not good. And now we have the Iran Israel conflict going on.

I say let the organization offer a report on their worth and then make a decision on disbanding,

@RasmaSandra That won't happen. People who want control would not allow such things, unless the UN Staff and other folks pitch in.

@grenery8 If UN is still to be given some chance, their headquarters need to move out of US. But then, who will foot the bill? Switzerland?
