Fun Wildlife in the Arizona Mountains

I grew up in Arizona and have lived here all my life. I have rarely seen crazy wildlife, such as scorpions and spiders, but recently I moved into an apartment that is right off the mountains off of the Black canyon freeway. We have so much cool wildlife here. We have red-spotted toads, scorpions, camel/sun spiders and a bunch of other stuff. I remember as a kid, finding the toads and putting them in buckets during the monsoon season. We never kept them, just looked at them. And now, we have them where I am at now and the kids are loving seeing all this cool stuff. We had rain a few weeks ago and ever since then, almost every night, there are one or two toads outside my front door. It is pretty awesome. I am not as excited about the scorpions, but hoping to see some tarantula’s during tarantula season!

Toads are really cool creatures. If you leave a door open they may go into your house. We had one come into the house and he didn't want to leave..

We have them try to come in when we open the door. We just have a dog and they're poisonous to dogs.

Our tarantula mating season is in October. They are everywhere then, looking for a date.

@star_disgate There's some years where you can see hundreds of them crossing the road on 89 between Paulden and Ash Fork in late summer.
