Getting in some extra exercise

Recently I’ve been feeling a bit more ‘flabby’ than usual, especially around the tummy, and I wasn’t happy about that, so I thought I had better do something. I do get a reasonable amount of exercise in my daily life, working in the garden and riding my bike here and there, but I felt like I needed something more ‘targeted’. I remembered one friend got in great shape after she started exercising with kettlebells, so I thought about getting myself some of those. But I’m a bit wary about buying more ‘stuff’ and just cluttering the place up. And of course they would be noticed and commented on by the family and I’m awfully self-conscious about other people taking the mickey out of what I’m doing! But then I remembered a man who became known as ‘The Skipping Sikh’. During Covid lockdown, Rajinder Singh, who was 73 at the time, made videos of himself exercising on his allotment using things he had to hand, including a skipping rope, tyres, a watering can and a bicycle. Well there was the solution – especially at the moment as I am watering the vegetables most days – each time I fill up the watering can, I can do some extra exercises with it before watering the plants! I also have several different watering cans so I can easily alter the weight depending on the size, whether it’s plastic or metal, and of course how much water is inside – eureka! So that’s my plan, we’ll see if it makes any difference. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-berkshire-57594344

Thanks. He was the trainee assistance dog we had for 18 months, about 10 years ago!

I have heard of people using a canned good in each hand as a little bit of weight.

I have seen that too. Not sure how much difference that really makes, but then I haven't tried.

@Fleura I suppose it is a good place to start, and if you already have them, they are at no cost, but eventually you would need to increase the weight and then purchase weights.

that is a good idea, make use of what you have there at no extra cost and hopefully it will help you on the targeted areas you need

Looks like everyone is getting in on the kettle craze, even four footed ones!

Thanks, When I do it, it feels as if it's having some effect, but no noticeable difference yet!
