For minimalists we sure can sometimes accumulate things. Of course in perspective it's if we have more than 20 items of clothing we feel "anxious" about having too much. Hubby and I went through our old stuff now that we've gotten a few new pieces of clothes and put together some very nice bags that will be a blessing to someone. We have a clothing pantry (and a food pantry) at our church that we will donate these things to. Our general rule is for every 1 new thing we bring into the house we get rid of 2.

I heard a mom say that once about keeping her kid’s toys in order; for every one toy that comes in, one toy gets donated. I suggested that to my sister when she complained about the toys, but she usually waits and just purges a bunch of stuff once a year. Our church youth group has a garage sale once a year to raise money for missions so I just purge that time of year.

@looeyville getting rid of stuff makes me feel light and clean. I should do it more often.

How generous of you. I'm sure someone would appreciate and bless you for your donated clothes. I've offloaded some stuff to work at Goodwill for sale, or for salvage to be recycled and upcycled overseas.

I have a double closet, dresser and armoire full of clothes to get rid of. It will be a while.

That’s a great rule.. simple and effective! It keeps clutter in check while still allowing room for new, useful things.
