Artists that make a difference

I just read in the news that Suga (Min Yoongi) of the Korean band BTS donated a whopping 5 BILLION won to a hospital supporting children with Autism in South Korea. It is the largest donation so far from any K-Pop idol. This benevolent act mobilizes the BTS ARMY (BTS fans) from all over the world to donate as well to their respective autism welfare organizations in their own countries. ARMYs are generous too. Suga has been visiting and conducting music lessons at the autism center during his day off while serving in the military's welfare branch since June. He was not introduced as a celebrity, so the students didn't know he was famous. He became their favorite teacher, anyhow. Talk about doing good to make the world a better place to live in. Suga's songs also dealt with depression, mental illness, and various social ills and were used by ARMYs to help themselves recover. Many claimed that BTS songs prevented them from committing suicide. All of the band members donated to charity during their birthdays and when needed. During the pandemic, the group also donated to the entertainment crew who were jobless at that time. They're one of a kind - always ready to help. Aside from the Michael Jackson and other singers' We Are the World event. Are there any artists/singers you know who have made an impact in making the world a better place to live in? Image credit: Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show

What is praise worthy is when they donate a big chunk of what they have. This donation may be just a pittance. Just saying

Let's say that's true, but are there any artists in your country or elsewhere who donate even a pittance of their earnings? Aside from published ones, many of their donations are also anonymous, so if you sum it all up, it may not just be a pittance.

@allknowing I thought he was an actor or a singer in India. What about your entertainment personalities? Are there any? It is a pittance for him, too, because he's no.2 in India's rich persons.

@Jenaisle Azim Premji has donated a significant portion of his wealth to philanthropy. He has pledged 66% of the economic ownership of Wipro to the Azim Premji Foundation for philanthropic purposes. This was in the news as him being the most generous I will have to search for any artist and will get back to you

My little nephew has autism so I am especially glad to read this. I can name several celebrities who donate millions, but I’m not sure how many millions. I know Taylor Swift is up there in artists who donate the most money, as well as Elton John.

Yes, I've read some news too, and Keanu Reeves. BTS and ARMY don't donate only once; they do so regularly and to several charitable institutions.

They don't just sing about life's struggles; they help people who are struggling. That's why I admire them a lot.

I like your reaction, dear Linda. They are more than a boy band. BTS and their ARMY are a force of good on this planet!

i love suga besides jk the most but i love them all. yes, they are really generous. like in bible, if you have a few dresses, share it with toher people, similar saying. band aid perhaps. every celebrity that can doante it, i support it; we, regular people, many times, we can't.

We have the same bias. Yes, they are, and kind too. Have you read the stories of how they treat even their helpers with respect? Not all celebrities are like that.

It is, and people should learn to appreciate these "seemingly" small things started by an artist, as this small action snowballed into international donations by their fans. That's what's more astonishing.
