871,000 die from loneliness yearly- WHO

Has anyone read the report from the World Health Organization that an alarming 871,000 people mostly the elderly die as a result of loneliness every year worldwide? Loneliness according to WHO increases the risks of stroke, heart attack, diabetes, depression and many illnesses that can be prevented.

It's very sad but it's true.. Something was written about it here as well backing up what you say And here it is getting worse as more and more old people either love alone or are dumped in a care home What's the answer? This might sound bad but it seems in the UK we don't want to be burdened by elderly parents And people who are alone get very little social interaction apart from Amy e.someone coming to see them for 20 minutes every day
