This Young Generation Isn't As Tough As We Were

I'm a Gen X, my husband's a Baby Boomer. We're both barely on the cusp of each of the two generations. But we shake our heads at today's youth not wanting to "adult" and not knowing how to communicate face-to-face. Here are some things our generations did that today's generation isn't tough enough to do. We drank from the garden hose. Sissy Gen Z kids would be afraid of "germs" We used paper maps. Today's generation doesn't know how to read a map. We waited to hear our favorite song on the radio. This new generation has digital downloads and instant gratification. We went to the library and researched legitimate vetted resources. We talked on the telephone with our parents in the next room. No privacy! No mobile phones. We were tethered to a long cord attached to a wall socket. We rode bicycles without helmets. We cooled our cookies on newspaper. Yeah, the younger people don't like us. But we're tough old birds.

We rode without seat belts and climbed on the jungle gym....sometimes we fell and hurt ourselves; but at least we were outside!!!

I agree with this! Not to be too harsh, but this generation really is weak compared to how we grew up. I understand society has changed — values, technology, everything — but you can’t deny there’s truth to it. You know, when you grew up in a hard life, you grew tough. But when everything comes easy to you… even the smallest challenge feels impossible.

I think that every generation has said that about the new one!
