The Way Food Speaks to My Heart

Sometimes, all I need is a warm plate of food to feel better. Whether it’s a simple bowl of githeri, freshly made chapatis, or a cup of hot tea on a rainy afternoon food comforts me in ways I can’t explain. It’s not just about taste. It’s the memories, the smiles around the table, and the love that goes into preparing it. I believe food connects people. Even a shared snack can bring laughter and stories. What food makes you feel at peace? Or brings back a special memory?

I totally agree with you. Food is not only the basic necessity to survive, it's a way to bond, connect to the soul and make memories. It's a comfort beyond words. I have so many memories around food.

Food really is comfort beyond words. For me, it’s a hot bowl of chicken soup; it takes me right back to cozy evenings at home with family

It's not really a food, but orange juice usually leaves me at peace. It reminds me of when I left my home for college for the first time, I would drink it to remember what it was like to be at home. We would serve orange juice with breakfast and dinner all the time, the consistent thing to wash away whatever food I had eaten. It made food I didn't like more bearable, and good food go down sweet. Thus it became a source of peace. Whether things were up or down, I could drink a glass of orange juice, and it would be okay. I think that consistency is the source of peace, whether inside or outside.
