The Texas Flooding Death Toll Is Up to 90

This is such a tragic situation unfolding in Texas. Flash flooding devastated multiple portions of the state. Included in the 90 dead are 27 children and counselors from Camp Mystic, which is an all-girl Christian summer camp in Kerr County, TX. There are still at least 10 girls and one counselor remain missing. On Friday the rain caused the nearby river to surge over 26 feet in less than an hour next to where nearly 700 children were at the summer camp. Can you imagine the trauma these young girl survivors are going to have following this tragedy? Sad. So, so sad.

Oklahoma has sent help, as have other states. It’s a stunning, tragic story. One mom of a survivor was angry at the camp, but you just can’t prepare for something like that.

I’m watching the Weather Brains discussion about it right now. Catastrophic flooding like that aren’t new (Helene in North Carolina last year). It’s like I told someone else, flash flood warnings aren’t “sexy” like the tornado warnings, but they kill more than tornadoes. People don’t understand the force and power of flood water.

It's all so tragic; and drowning is such a horrible way to go.
