Anyone out there besides me like southern gospel music? I listen all of the time, it relaxes me. Who are some of your favorite artists?

I love southern gospel, but I don't have any particular favorites. I really love the bluegrass gospel quartets doing the old timey songs.

I do. I have recently been listening to an old 2-disc set of the Imperials. It covers the 70s I think. Anyhow has songs like "The Trumpet of Jesus", "Sail On" (remember Chris Christian?) etc. But mostly I like the Bill Gaither Homecoming series. With people who've since passed on. People like Jake Hess and Vestal Goodman.

The Gaithers are hard to beat. The Hoppers are good too if you get a chance to hear them.

The Gaithers and The Hoppers are hard to beat. The Cathedrals are a fabulous group too. Did you ever hear The Mullins family? Their son, Buddy sang with The Gaither Band for a couple of years. They were good and Buddy now has a group of his own called Everyday Driven. They are a more contemporary group, but they are still a favorite of mine!

I'm not very up on the current Southern Gospel groups, but I grew up on Southern Gospel music. I remember as a child going to all-night sings to hear the Speer Family, the Weatherfords, the Statesmen, Blackwoods and others. As a young adult I enjoyed the Happy Goodmans, the Cathedrals, etc. And, in the past few years I've enjoyed the Talleys, Palmetto Quartet and Greater Vision.
