Anyone here who can claim he/she has never lied?

I made white lies now and then, and even outright lied when needed. Even a priest I admired a lot lied in front of my face. Some people say, 'liars go to hell'. What about you? what can you say for yourself? Anyone here who can claim he/she has never lied? My hat's off to you if you NEVER did.

Not the kind of lies that will ruin someone else Having said that I have always felt telling the truth gives me better sleep

Okay. Define lie. Are there degrees of lying? Can a lie be excused as a misstatement? Are some lies acceptable? Example : My wife asked me if her new jeans made her butt look big. This is where telling the truth might actually be the wrong thing to do. So a dodge could and should be used in this case. No honey, your butt looks just as good as it always does. Not a lie technically but still not the truth. Her feelings get spared and I won't be sleeping on the couch for a week. So. Acceptable lie or not? But to answer your question, I doubt there is only a handful, if that, of people that have never lied.

That's a perfect example. I would do the same in a similar situation. In that regard, I believe everyone lied in their lifetime, whether it's a lie, half-lie or dodging, it is still a lie. But I would rather dodge the question and make my spouse feel better than be honest and sleep on the couch for a week.

I hear you. I think we’ve all told a white lie or two—sometimes to spare someone’s feelings, sometimes to protect ourselves. I’ve done it too. Not proud of it, but I guess it’s part of being human. We grow, we stumble, we reflect. And you’re right—if there’s someone out there who’s truly never lied, even once, even unintentionally… then wow, that’s rare. My respect too. But maybe what really matters is striving to be more honest each day, even when it’s hard. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being real and accountable. Thanks for this thought-provoking post.

@Jenaisle Saying that we are all just humans may sound corny, but I suppose it is true. We attempt to avoid the truth in order to protect our loved ones, save face, and occasionally simply to elevate ourselves above others. But I suppose we can always return to our truth as long as we observe, think, repent, and make amends.

Thanks too for your thought-provoking reply. I like what you said about "striving to be more honest each day, even when it’s hard. It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being real and accountable. "

Oh god there will be some who go around claiming that they never lie. Might even be some on here But would they say so on here I would be lying if I said that I believed anyone who said that they had never told a lie.

Right, so all of us will go to hell, or purgatory, depending on the severity of our lies?

@Jenaisle Does the severity of the lie matter? What would the Bible say about that?

@Jenaisle Well in that case The severity of the lie has no bearing on anything The Bible unequivocally condemns lying and considers it a sin Enough said

I’ve definitely lied. I remember as a little kid telling my mom I was wearing socks in my boots, but I wasn’t. I got into the car, and my sister ratted me out. My mom told me when I got home I was getting a spanking, and I did. I was three years old.

I think I have never lied that I know of. However I am careful with what comes out of my mouth and open to others depending on the comfort level. When you tell the truth, we need not remember what we told - is my mantra.

No matter what kind of lie it is, I don't think anyone can say they've never lied about anything. At some point, we all have — it's almost impossible not to.
