Globe Postpaid Contract Finished

I have been a Globe postpaid subscriber for 25 years and with the same account and every time my contract expires I avail a free handheld phone and usually I choose the most upgraded version of either the Samsung phone or iPhone. Globe Telecom is one of the telecommunication companies in the Philippines, which provide internet services as well. However, this time I am torn between being pragmatic or being brave to face whatever challenge I may face. You probably know what I mean. My bills recently have been very light but I have not redeemed my credit standing because as of yet I am not even capable of accepting even the amnesty programs offered by the three credit cards which have been blocked for years now. I still feel like I have no right to be purchasing or availing anything to satisfy myself about my wants unless I am able to redeem my minimum 5M PhP credit standing. So, what do you think could be the wisest decision to make if you were in my shoes?

Maybe this isn’t the right time to get a new phone, even if it’s free with the plan. Sometimes saying “no” to a reward now is a way of saying “yes” to a better future.

@Neil43 Sometimes, situations like this cloud our hearts because we’re torn between what we want and what we know is right. It’s not easy. The heart says, “I’ve been through a lot. I deserve this.” But the mind whispers, “Be patient. Take care of the bigger picture first.” That kind of inner conflict can be heavy. But the fact that you're pausing, thinking, and even asking for advice means you’re not letting the cloud win. You’re searching for clarity, and that’s already a sign of strength and wisdom. We are on your back.

You would also be disconnected if you are not able to pay your dues for your postpaid subscription. My option now is to downgrade or still have a subscription with free phone.

That’s a tough spot and totally understandable. If I were in your shoes, I’d probably lean toward being pragmatic for now—especially since you mentioned those unresolved credit card issues. Maybe it’s wiser to skip the high-end phone this time and go for a more practical option or even keep your current one if it’s still working well. Once everything’s more stable, you can reward yourself with the upgrade you really want—without the extra worry.

This is what exactly what I wanted to hear to enlighten me more. Because most of the time there's a genie that dictates my subconscious to decide on things that are not pragmatic.

I hope that you will not get another credit anywhere . I don't have any knowledge about credit cards. That's my opinion and maybe you can be patient about your redeemable credit standing. Have a nice day!
