"Pandal" may be a strange word for many. Let me explain it. It is a temporary hall made with bamboo and cloth. The roof is usually tarp sheet to protect it from rain , heat or dew. Such halls are erected to have weddings, birthday dinners and even death anniversary lunches. Such halls are useful for stage shows and performances. And the pandal makers get a huge order of work during puja times like Durga Puja and Kali Puja. Thus it is an all the year round employment. Pandal makers their outlets or shop fronts where they also rent out utensils and gas stoves to cook dinner and tables and chairs to serve food . Thus you can see it is a good employment. However, I must sadly say the pandal makers make just enough to live. They don't get rich. Only the unemployed young men may like to do it. These days a pandal is taking shape on our lawn. It is big enough and it will have a stage too. The Holy Mass will be offered in it and then stage performances will be held in it At the end, lunch will be served for the guests in this pandal hall. The foundation day will be celebrated on August 9, Saturday.
