A draught of vintage: a welcome assault on all the senses.

I bethought to myself today to repair to the garden with a beaker full of the warm south after having laboured in the kitchen and put a big dish of luscious looking cannelloni in the oven.
I selected from the cellar (garage) a 2019 Chateau Lafite, not the best year and not a great pairing for a tomatoey dish. But i was roundly satisfied with my choice.
I sat in the afternoon garden that was redolent with the scent of geraniums, lavender and pine. The obnubilated sun sent her heat towards me through the thick canopy of cloud and the breeze was picking up in readiness for tomorrow’s anticipated big wind.
All my physical senses as well as those of a more ephemeral style were engaged, all contributing to a deep sense of wellbeing, and they were all held in concert by the goblet of ruby red Bordeaux to which I shall now return.
