https://edition.cnn.com/2025/08/02/africa/trumps-tariffs-africa-and-china-intl This is an article published today on CNN. It states that Trump's tariffs are sending African nations into China. i had to wonder how unaware people are. In the 1990s, on IRC chat, I was communicating with a chap in Kenya who told me how China had 'invaded' and all their goods are coming from there. I was a little shocked but shortly found my country invaded by China so that just about everything that is imported comes from China. That CNN would not know that for decades China has been filling the markets of the 3rd world is incredible. Trump's tariffs will make our products more expensive to Americans. The few products the US ships here have 'competition' from other nations which means that this cream cheese from Germany is cheaper than Philadelphia... so... guess what is racing off the shelves. The tariffs were a bad idea, as is the cutting of Aid, but there are alternatives. And that is what America doesn't know.

@jaylar Even the MAGA hats are made in China unfortunately. Imagine this, a packet of china made baby diaper would have cost $7.50 will now cost $10.50 or $12.50. Same packet and nearly 50% more expensive.

@id_peace this level of ignorance is remarkable... but Americans will pay. Years ago, yeah, lots of stuff came from the US but since 2000 very little. Want to see how American face coffee and tea going way up in price...
