Help! My Child’s Room Is a Museum of Trinkets

My daughter has accumulated a lot of items over time—stickers, pencils, pencil cases, sticky notes, keychains, and more. It’s starting to really frustrate me because it feels like she’s slowly turning into a hoarder. Just recently, she bought yet another bag. I had said no to the purchase, but her dad went ahead and got it for her anyway, even though I disagreed.
I’ve been seriously considering throwing out some of her old, unused things while she’s at school so she won’t be able to protest. But part of me feels that would be disrespectful. Still, whenever we try to clean together, she ends up keeping almost everything and barely lets go of anything she doesn’t use.

Need to know more. How old is she. Young kids are not good at cleaning. It can help to have her give up something each time she gets something new.

:) We've been practicing that. Sometimes, she follows :) I think I need to be consistent or before buying, I should ask her to toss away something first.

@Iam_jauntyjen That is the way to do it. We always did a big clean out at the start of December. As I told the boys, they would be getting new stuff at Christmas.
