This is the festival season in our country. We are to celebrate many festivals back to back. Now ShriGanesh Puja is going on. The idols of Lord Ganesh are being worshiped in lots of Forefathers"pandals" ( makeshift temples)in our town. The festival lasts for ten days. One day after the idols are immersed, we will observe "Pitrpaksh" It will continue for fifteen days. In these fifteen days we offer remember our dead forefathers and offer water and food to them. Right after "Pitrpaksh" "Navratri" will begin and will last for nine days. In between the nine days of Navratri the festival of "Vijayadashmi" will come. Navratri and Vijayadashmi both festivals mark the victory of good over evil. And twenty days after Vijayadashmi the greatest festival of light - Diwali"- will be observed. As I said, this is the season of festivals for us.

@rakski In fact, in Hindu faith every day of the year is a festival. India is a country of festivals, of celebrations. It is another matter that most of the festivals are observed at home without any celebration

That is a lot to observe. We have Halloween in October (not everyone celebrates this), Thanksgiving in November, and then, of course, Christmas is December 25th. Today is Labor Day in the United States as well. Schools are closed as are banks, post offices, and government buildings. Veterans Day is also is November, I don’t want to forget to pay respect to our veterans.
