GLOWING INSECT

There is this small caterpillar-like insect that glows so brightly in the dark that its presence than be noticed over 50 yards away. I have realized that many of them are around my farm. Out of curiosity, I took some photos of it, one with a flash on my phone camera and another with the flash switched off. I have shared a collage of the photos. I do not know its exact name and I wonder how the small insect produced such bright light.
