Yes, I have chatted about this a lot over the last few days. I was given some cherry tomato plants by a neighbour and …..boy, oh boy …..have they given some fruit ! …..and then some! We are eating as many as we can and we have given some away…..yet we still have hundreds and they just keep a growing ….. So I was wondering what I should do with them, as I don’t want to waste any. Several ideas and suggestions ….soup, was the favourite. One idea that I was very interested in was dehydrate them . I almost bought a dehydrator several years ago but thought it was expensive and could see me using it often enough ( I can be sensible some times so I didn’t buy it ). Now, though I have a Ninja air fryer and I saw that several people had used that for dehydrating cherry tomatoes, so with that and advice from lovely MyLotters I have taken the plunge. I washed them and let them dry. Cut them in half Placed in a bowl Scattered with salt and tossed in olive oil. Into the air fryer they went . At the moment the smell from the kitchen is mmmmmm lovely I have them on dehydrate on 60* for the first two hours, then I will give them a shake and do more time …..people have said between 3 and 8 hours. I am thinking this batch will go into oil to preserve and the next batch maybe dehydrated more ….til dry …and placed in bags ready to be added to soups and stews etc…. Is this something you have ever done ?

We used to have a shop that sold preppers-type items. We used to dehydrate using an actual dehydrator.

I was going to buy one a few years ago but they were expensive and I didn’t think I would use it all that often. This way it is easy and costs very little. It’s certainly a lot cheaper than buy them in the shops that’s for sure !

@Traceyjayne Yes the dehydrators are very expensive for someone who won't use them that much.

I had several tomatoes and was thinking of dehydrating some. However, I seem to be eating them. I don't think I will have any to dehyrdrate honestly unless my neighbor pops up with some more.

Mine have been dehydrating now for almost 4 hours. I will check when that time is up and decide if they need longer. I have a jar ready to store them in. I grew them last year and had lots but we did eat them all, this year there is way too many just to eat. I have been lucky with my crop this year.
