Just a single plant that I got from my mother's garden got me loads of turmeric
I planted it and it provided a huge cluster of turmeric. I dug out and separated the cluster and planted the rhizomes in a row and they proudced more turmeric. I once again separated the rhizomes and planted them again in a row that stretched to more than 100 feet
The rhizomes that I gor from this lot I kept a few for replanting and the rest I cleaned, boiled, dried and made it into powder The rhizomes weighed 20 kilos and the powder weighed two kilos
Sadly we could not repeat this process and now we just have a few plants but do get enough powder for our use

I suffer with high blood pressure and shouldn’t have a lot of turmeric. Well done for growing all of that though !

@allknowing I didn’t know either until a few months ago. If you are taking medication for high blood pressure you shouldn’t have much , if any, tumeric

@allknowing It seems that most of what's available here is in powdered form, which I assume is made from the roots. I'm not sure if there are any options made from the leaves.

@rsa101 Yes powder is made from the rhizomes and the leaves are used to wrap to steam snacks which are removed and not eaten

We never use turmeric in any form where we have to add it in our drinks - may be in milk sometimes Only the leaves have a strong aroma and not the turmeric It is mild in my opinion I like the aroma of the leaves and make a snack using the leaves as a wrapper
