How does medicine work on you?

Benadryl is something taken for allergies, itching (often associated with allergies), seasickness, and more. My dad had had to take it when he had an allergic reaction to shrimp particles in the air at a restaurant. Every couple of years I’ll get a migraine that lasts for four days, and I can’t stop throwing up. After about 4 days I’ll go to the ER. OTC nausea meds do not work. So going to the ER, if not for easing the pain, they at least stop the throwing up with prescription level nausea meds. But they always use to load me down with Benadryl to try to get me to sleep it off (despite never being able to sleep one off). All it does is make me walk like a drunk person. They said they give me as much as is safe (gee, thanks). I haven’t gone in about three years, but the last time I was there I told them no Benadryl. Not just because it doesn’t work, but because of dementia runs in your family it increases your likelihood of getting it. I wish I’d known earlier. So many medications just don’t work on me, and haven’t since I was little. Whereas, a half Benadryl will knock my sister out, and she can’t take the mildest pain medication without getting loopy. From the beginning, before my car accident, pain meds didn’t work much on me. How does medication affect you?

I think I have a strong tolerance for meds. They generally don't seem to have that much effect on me. That is right about Benadryl and diphenhdramine. I used to use it for sleep, but am weaning myself off of it. It is especially dangerous for those over 65 to take.
