Our second maid is careless

She broke that coconut scraper and yesterday while weeding she damaged a water pipe and we had to close the water connection until the plumber arrived to repair it
Getting maids is not easy here and that means we will have to put up with her carelessness I will surely warn her and may even tell her whatever losses we incur because of her carelessness she will have to bear I do not know how that will be accepted She may even leave.
What say?

I had a talk with her and told her what it means to me when she blunders. It is not the money but the tension I go through She has promised to be careful

You have to teach them how to take care of things and value her job.
Sometimes you have to deduct to her salary the damages she inflict to her job, so she will start working responsibly.

Routine work she does well She seemed a bit apologetic and yes she needs training and that is not easy

If she needed this job she'd be careful next time if not she will leave. As you said getting good maids is a big task now a days so play wisely with them.
