Next month, my mom and I will be traveling together, and I’m really excited about it! Just a few days ago, I bought luggage for both of us. Then we went shopping—she picked out sandals for the wedding, some comfy slippers, and rubber shoes. We also got a sling bag to keep our passports and other important travel documents safe.
Just yesterday, I also took her to the doctor for her flu and pneumonia vaccinations, and to get prescriptions for the medicines she’ll need during her three-month stay abroad.
How about you, what kind of preparations do you usually make when you travel?

The suitcases are kept open a few days befre travel and whatever we need to take is thrown in there and then rearranged before departure
The tour conductors normally give us a check list of some essentials that we need to take with us

That’s a clever way to pack! Leaving the suitcase open a few days ahead really helps catch those “oops, I almost forgot this” moments. And yes, the checklist is a lifesaver. Still, no matter what, I always end up rearranging everything a hundred times before we actually leave!

@annierose Sometimes all the planning we do is more exciting than the holiday itself

@allknowing Haha, I know exactly what you mean! The planning, the lists, even the packing kind of set the mood for the trip. It makes the holiday feel like it’s already started.

Oh, that is exciting! What a fun time you will have.
I bought a small suitcase (on sale) for my cruise to Maine and Canada. I’m only be gone for nine days so it won’t be too long, but my suitcase was worn and decrepit.
I also bought travel size deodorant, shampoo, soap…since full size isn’t necessary for such a short trip. My sister, meanwhile, is bringing seasickness patches, and everything else I didn’t think of.

@annierose Because when you have to buy anything on the ship they charge you and arm and a leg.

A cruise to Maine and Canada must be beautiful. Good call on getting a new suitcase and travel-size essentials. They really do make packing easier. Sounds like your sister has all the extras covered too, so you’ll both be set for anything.

That’s a solid list! Snacks and water are always a must for me too. I usually add a powerbank to mine since my phone battery loves to die at the wrong time.
