Promise/Engagement/Wedding Rings

My boyfriend and I have discussed marriage already and we definitely know that is where we are headed. I don't like typical ring designs though so I took it upon myself to go looking around and see what kind of non traditional rings I could find. My searching has turned up many beautiful options including band styles, a variety of different gems and stones to choose from as well as matching ring sets for couples. Some of them REALLY took my breath away while others definitely left a lot to be desired. I think I'm focusing more on Opals and sapphires for gems. For the bands my boyfriend already knows I like silver over gold because I find silver easier to match in an outfit and gold being yellow I feel it limits not only wardrobe options but gem options too color wise. I also don't like a thick band or giant stones. I keep a file on my computer with the options I've liked and I'll let him see them for inspo if he needs. I never cared for having a ring but I am low key really wanting at least a promise ring. What are your jewelry preferences? Are you more into gold or silver? Do you like things to sparkle or is a simple look more your style?
