Overwhelmed Off and On.

Welp, not exactly the way I wanted to spend my Wednesday, but here we are. I had a few different things going on at once, from having to clean my dog’s cage (at no fault of his own) to waiting 42 minutes for my two-minute psych call (unacceptable!), and then I caught myself doomscrolling, plus personal stuff I was worried about, and I was becoming overwhelmed. I wasn’t even sure WHERE I wanted to work, but my older sister suggested the coffee shop. No, no, she wasn’t trying to get rid of me. I think she just knew getting out for a bit and into my element would help. And it has helped, for the most part. Right now, I’m working on a writing order while listening to this album of classical music mixed with rain sounds. I needed something to keep me both calm and focused. When I’m finished with this order, I’m heading home for a bit. Later, my friend, maybe my niece, and I may head to the nearby bar to play some free retro video games before trivia (at the same spot). If my niece doesn’t join us to play video games, she’ll join us for trivia. My friend built and donated the arcade machine, and it has a ton of old-school games on it. I think an evening of video games followed by Trivia Night, and then relaxing at home before bedtime, is just what the doctor ordered. In the meantime, I need to get this order done while I’m in an okay mindset. I may post once more, but I’m not sure yet. If not, I’ll save it for another day. You all stay safe and take care. :) Photo Credit: Pixabay.

A coffee shop is the perfect place for every writer who can be easily distracted by small things and writers who are a bit anxious about their day, it helps them unwind and relax. Your sister's recommendation is the best. I hope your day went fine.

@tammys85 I think that is normal to feel that way, feeligns on and off, the important thing to do is to continue with what we have to fo in life.

Absolutely. I go there often. Sometimes, I just wanna work from home, but even I knew I needed to get out. I was overwhelmed off and on, but I was doing better by the next day. Thank you so much.

I've discovered over the years that our modern life is the cause of all our stress and anxiety. I learned years ago to turn off the news, and these days I barely scroll on social media anymore. Too much divisiveness, hatred and negativity. I've also learned to weed out a lot of things that were causing me to live a hurried life and an anxious life; basically, I learned to give up a lot and slow down just to keep my sanity. I'm glad you found a place to spend some time that helped you relax and recharge.

That's definitely true. Unfortunately, I've been dealing with anxiety since I was a kid, and as a child of the late 80s and 90s, we weren't educated on anxiety. Even I figured I just "worried too much." It's wild to think anxiety was the culprit and has been for decades. Buuut, you're still right. Social media doesn't always help. Sometimes, if I wanna be online, I'll "escape" to Pinterest or the autumn or holiday(s) subreddits, where things are just more laid back. I definitely need to learn to STOP reading the comments on more serious or controversial posts, because there's always gonna be nasty people. I also need to get back into reading books and playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons again. I know with it being fall now, I'll dedicate some time to my horror and non-spooky seasonal movies, so maybe I'll put the phone down and just focus on those. Thank you so much! I do my work here, as they don't mind, and I always buy a beverage and sometimes food. It's laid back and helps me focus. I have friends and acquaintances here, too, so sometimes, I just walk up here when I'm bored. ....Or did you mean the bar instead of the coffee shop lol? Yes, I don't even skip Trivia Night at the bar for Big Brother 27. I just don't watch that episode. I've skipped it for movies (theaters) or cat sitting, but that's about it lol. It's my mid-week mental break; I NEED it.
