Cost of living crisis

Hello I would like to touch up on and talk about the current cost of living crisis. Going back when covid 19 reared it's ugly head we all thought nothing could get any worse and how wrong was we. I remember the worry it caused everyone as nobody wanted to get this deadly virus. We was told to stay at home unless we urgently needed to go out to limit the chance of getting covid 19 which most of us abided by. Months went by and everyone was getting fed up and alot of people suffered with their mental health because of it as we couldn't socialize not even with our families. It was hard times that finally came to a end. Then it seemed like straight after that we got hit with the cost of living crisis. I think for me the major problem at first was rising gas and electricity prices then everything else started to rise. Months later and WOW what impact this has had on everyone and continues to be a massive problem. Food prices have soared whilst the quality of the food has gone down and smaller in size. I started buying the cheap coffee as it was only a pound then it went up to £1.69 now it's £1.95. A small bag of Maltesers 37g is now £1.05 and a 93g pack use to be a pound then it was £1.35 now they are £1.75. Prices are going to continue to rise but wages and benifits will not. I can sadly see this country turn into a third world country. We all ready have overwhelming numbers of homeless people. Have you stopped and had a good look around your local town and noticed the amount of homeless people. I have and it's shocking to see. I'm 44 years old and was born in 1981. When I was about 9 I use to get £5.00 pocket money every Friday from my dad. I still remember the things i brought with that £5 pound. I would buy a quarter of bom boms which was 30p a quarter of lemon drops for another 30p a chocolate bar and I would buy 2 childrens magazines from the shop and still have money left over. I would buy a cone of chips for 35p and a sausage for about 40p. A children's magazine cost me £5.10 last year for my daughter. 10 cigarettes use to cost just 99p. It's not just affecting people on benifits as i know so many people who have worked all their lives to finally beable to retire to find themselves broke and struggling to buy the essentials. How as THE COST OF LIVING CRISIS effected you and your family? Do you see any positive changes happening? And where do you see this country 5 years from now? My personal opinion is that we are heading only one way and that's to total disaster.
