It is an interesting novel, and it does give the sense of what slavery was like and the risks that people took to escape. There really wasn't a real underground railroad at this time, the smoke from the steam engines would suffocate anyone in a long tunnel and factories with a moving assembly line were invented by Henry Ford in 1913. The characters and the action however made it a great read. I really enjoyed the book. If you have a chance pick it up! Which books have you read recently?

I have not read this one, though I have heard of it. I did enjoy "The Color of Water," which is a book about the uneasy but mutually supportive relationship between blacks and Jews in the "old South."

Interesting. Is this a fictional story or non-fiction? What facts did you learn from the book that you didn't know before?

@lifecoachjerusalem It's non-fiction. One thing I learned was that Jewish white people were more likely to hire black kids to work in their stores than non-Jewish white people. The author is part black and part white/Jewish.
