Indian Tejas Mk2 Fighter at a Dead End

The Indian government had asked the research and development wing of Hindustan Aeronautics to manufacture an indigenous fighter. The scientists went to work and produced the body frame of a fighter, which has been christened the Tejas Mark Two. Unfortunately, they could not produce an engine, and the one that was produced had less power and affecting the capability of the plane. The Indian government then contracted with General Electric in the USA to supply an engine for the plane. However, to date, though India has contracted for over 100 engines, not a single engine has been delivered to India after 2 prototypes were given. This is part of geopolitics, and India should have anticipated it. The IAF has ordered 94 of these fighters, but they have reached the end of the road, as one does not know when the engines will come. I will say that it is millions of dollars wasted in producing just the airframe, and India could have done well by importing the planes directly from Russia, like they've been doing earlier.
