I wonder how far back in history dogs were domesticated and became a part of the family - a very important part. Seems like everyone l know has a dog or dogs - some as pets or guard dogs. Not forgetting, police dogs , hunting dogs, care dogs etc.etc. We had two guard dogs - Lioness and Rosa. Unfortunately Rosa died last week -really sad when they die.. Do you have a dog or dogs? What are their names? Pixabay image.

I only have two cats. I do not have to take care of a cat they take care of themselves. That is why I love cats.

@jefferson126 Are you thinking of getting another one - and being more careful so it doesn't get away?

@Kandae11 It always hurts. We have a cat that will be 20 in May. I know that she won’t be around many more years. It pains me already.

So very hard when they go. With their lifespan - they will go before us.

I’m so sorry you lost your dog. I absolutely love dogs. My current dog is named Sadie, and she is a Chihuahua.

I saw many ppl don't have baby but a dog, even some ppl think of a dog as baby. They perfer to raise a dog rather than a baby.I don't wanna judge anyone, but in my eyes, the dog is just animal,it's ok to raise a dog as pet or guard, but it can't replace a real baby in the family.

You are so right. A lot of folks think very highly of their dogs. I read of a lady who left her inheritance to her dog.!

I don't have a dog right now. But, when I was a child, my family had a black poodle named Bubbles. He was a sweet dog who lived to be 13.
