Notes On Wrongful Arrests/Convictions

Dear all, I saw on a show where this guy was talking about someone being arrested, he said "she was arrested so you know she's guilty." The problem with that, is that arrest doesn't necessarily prove guilt, in fact many people have been erroneously arrested. In fact, there are entire organizations dedicated to fighting wrongful arrests and convictions. I know tv often makes things look simple, but real life rarely is. If you hold the belief that only the guilty get arrested, you have no place on a jury, because a jury has to be balanced and look at evidence from all angles BEFORE drawing a conclusion.

People are nuts if they think an arrest means everyone really did the crime. That’s sad.

Well, people often want things wrapped up in a neat little bow, less work on their part to actually work things out. @AmbiePam

That's certainly not the way to look at things and not how our justice system is supposed to work.
