Good Tuesday Morning

Good morning everyone! It's been an eventful few days. We're going through Gram house and really I don't think it'll be anything else. No matter what we plan to do with the house, which is a lot. We've found so many things that should probably be in a museum. Like an extremely old blood pressure machine. I sent a picture to Kristie just for fun and even she didn't know what to say lol. How about an original playboy joke book. Mom and I would look at some of this stuff and be like we're finally getting rid of it. I put up her rugs to sell, I hated those things. She took these running rungs long and thin and put them all around the house because her floor is laminate. I hated those rugs but I tolerated them for her. All I ever did was trip over them. I am getting rid of some stuff and every dollar we get goes into an envelope to go toward the house. We have this plan to demo a few things and make like a hang out place. I'm going to have my shop, my library and my husband is going to have his game room. We're even talking about getting him a drum set finally to set up there. It'll take work but we'll get there. We're going to get some land cleared and get chickens. We've all agreed to it and it'll still be next year until we can do it. Dad is doing good. He is still doing his breathing trials. Yesterday he was up to 12 and soon they'll be able to do a swallow test to see if he can come off the feeding tube. He will still have to go to another facility. The case worker wasn't really pushing rehab but Select is only a 30 day facility. Not that anyone told us that before we transferred him there in the first place. However we got lucky and there's a VA facility in Nashville we can transfer him to. It's another 30 day facility but I think he'll be ready to go before those 30 days are up. I am officially a CPR instructor. I've already been asked to do a class but I don't think I can really start until next year. I just have too much right now. There's still Fire Department events to attend. There's an R&R meeting this week and then Halloween is Boo Bash on the square here. Businesses and first responders gather on our public square and hand out candy. It's a lot of fun and this will be the second year I go up with the Rescue Squad. The Fire Department will be there this year and I'm happy they're finally getting into it but I already committed to it with Rescue. We are officially filing for bankruptcy now. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be and with this I'm hoping we can get a few things done now. It'll take one year and then we can start putting things in my name. I'm excited to be financially stable again. I haven't been reading but I'm still working on this Harry Potter puzzle. I'm almost finished with it. Hopefully soon I'll be reading again. Right now the schedule seems to be a bit packed. What is everyone else up to today? Are you getting hit with any of the Hurricane today? It's supposed to make landfall today as a Cat 5.

We're far from it, so we're safe. I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better. There's more to it than safe swollowing before a person can come off a feeding tube. George, my husband, has had his going on two years now. It took a year before I could cut down his feeds from four to two. Your dad will need to get used to eating by mouth, and may require the tube for a bit while his stomach and body get re-introduced to eating by mouth. Hopefully, it won't take as long as it's taken George.

They haven't even explained the process to us yet. We're just waiting on the test.

@JordanLader I don't know if they'll do what they did for George, but basically. Once they confirm your father can swollow safely, he'll start on pureed foods and thickened liquids. He'll have to eat a certian ammount of colories on his own, and it might take time. Since he's not used to eating, he may not be able to eat as much in one sitting as before. However, if they are using a feeding pump, you can always ask about him being switched to bolis feedings to help the process along. It'll help get the body used to eating or being fed in intervuals. But, getting off a feeding tube is a long, and often not easy process.

We’re getting strong winds and rain, but I’m in Oklahoma. I feel sorry for those in the way of the hurricane.
