Whatever you Suggest the Answer is No

A friend of mine has a daughter who always does the opposite of what she suggests. The other day the daughter, who lives abroad, was talking about opening a business in Jamaica. The mother, who was enjoying her retirement, had a moment's terror, but then grabbed reality, and suggested a plaza about two blocks from her house. The daughter immediately said no and went to Montego Bay. As the world knows, Mobay was serious hit by Melisa. From flooded roads to downed light poles to the absence of internet and phone service, Mobay 'enjoys' it all. The plaza, two blocks from her mother's house was not at all damaged, further, it has a generator. Had the daughter opened the business there then the mother would have obligations and duties. But she didn't. Ah... the joy of being bypassed.

I can see where the daughter might've been coming from. Most people want to open businesses where they know they can get good foot traffic. Where there's a better chance of taking off. But, no one could've known what Melissa could've done. Although a cat 5 hurricane typically doesn't leave anything in its wake. If the daughter survived, that's a good thing.

the daughter is abroad. The thing is that it is an online company so it could be in the basement. It is very sad, when you look at Mobay and know how long it will take to repair and then at what the mother suggested which suffered no damage

@jaylar I still stand by what I said. Even online businesses work best when you can be where you think'll work best. There's many reasons, and it's personal preferences. I mean, you didn't think Melissa would hit at all, because tracks shift so drastically sometimes the closer they get to land, but apparently it did.

@kaylachan even before Melissa....Mobay had more crime and higher rents. I think if the mother said Mobay, she'd have gone elsewhere.

Usually children think they know best no matter how old they are,

in many cases a child grows up and wants to prove s/he is better than the parents and so makes choices, not based on facts but as the title of this article says. A few respect and listen, but many... nope
