I am trying to decide between a dj or a live band at my wedding reception. I know there are certain songs I want played and I even want some people in wedding party to sing. I might even sing myself....if my mom is lucky haha. Can anyone help me decide the pros and cons of each

With either they should respect your wishes in what you want played. A DJ will be able to play the song you want by the Artist you want. As long as he knows in advance. You should make a play list for him. A band you will be confined to the music the play with the sound only they have. You should make sure they can sing the songs you want and you have to like the way they sind it. Some of them will try to sing songs they way they think it should be. What are your cost options? With a DJ you should only be paying for one/two people and their equipment where as with a Band they could charge more depending on the amount in the group. I think you have a wider selection with a DJ. Congratulations on your wedding.

Definately a live band from this ones point of veiw, they get more atmosphere happening and if they are good, get people up and dancing easier!

I would rather have a DJ at my wedding because I want a bunch of different songs. and some dj's i've seen at weddings made everything so much fun and interesting.

well with dj you can have the cds all there and decdied for the dj to play, but with the band its always good to see a live band doing cover songs and the crowd sometimes join on stage for singing and shenangens

Personally I would rather hear a dj any day over a live band. What if the bad is having a "bad day" and they don't sound all that great? Plus bands can only play so many songs because they usually don't know all that many. A dj is better because they don't need to take breaks either. You can hear whatever you want, and you know it will sound good.
