Anyone have any advice on how I should go about getting well?

I am 34 years old, and have been sick since I was 16, which is a whopping 18 years. It first started off as feeling weird, kind of like a brain-foggy feeling. It got so bad that my mom took me to the doctor and they diagnosed me as being depressed. It didn't feel like depression to me, but I was 16. What did I know? I was treated with medication, yet it didn't help so I eventually stopped taking it. This brain-foggy feeling has come off and on since then, but with increasingly worse symptoms. After I gave birth to my son in 2000, I started to feel foggy and forgetful more often. I developed an intolerance to all scents and fragrances, and could no longer where my favorite perfumes, deordorant, use cleaners, etc. It became so bad after a while that I would become extremely ill afte shopping in Walmart and had to lay down immediately after going back home. This is definitely not depression! Stupid doctors...Anyway, I am still becoming worse. Every single thing that I eat makes me sick. Even an organic apple will cause me to get a headache or some other weird symptoms. I had to eat nothing but potatoes for a month in 2004 because everything else made me really sick. I ache all over from eating, feel severe nausea, feel extremely foggy, to the point where I can't remember my kids' names for a moment, and many other debilitating symptoms. I have been to allergists, endocronologists, ear, nose and throat specialists, dermatologists, naturopaths, gastroenterologists, etc, yet I'm still suffering. Does anyone have any advice? I am reaching the end of my rope... I need to be able to take care of my kids and not be so grouchy all the time. Thanks. Stacey

I've been treated for candida, yet I got no better. And I don't have hypoglycemia. I had a 3 hour GTT. Thanks.

Try a rheumatologist. It could be fibromyalgia. Sounds kind of like celiac sprue too but if you went to a gastroenterologist he would have caught that. I know it's frustrating when you don't have a diagnosis and you're suffering. Hang in there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely try a rheumatologist. I had a blood test come back positive for celiac, but the biopsy came back negative! Very frustrating! I will find a rheumatologist asap. Thanks again.

I am so sorry for you! Are you seeing different doctors or the same one? Maybe you need to switch doctors? Talk to friends and see. One time I was very sick and could not get well. Turned out I had sleep apnea which not sleeping...my body could not heal. I would try to see a homeopathic doctor and see if they can offer any other suggestions. Good luck with this. Motherhood and illness is an incredibly hard thing to go through!

Have you bee to a general internist that checked your thyroid and all of the other levels in your body? Hav eyou had a scan to check for a tumor? If I were you I would find a good internist in your area and have all of the blood work and more than you have ever had done, redone.

I'm so sorry you poor thing. I hope there is nothing wrong. I am dealing with an illness too which has not been identified yet but I most definitely have a problem with my liver and gallbladder. You need to have a wackload of blood work done, if that reveals nothing, have you considered going to a homeopath? I know they can help with a lot of things. I just started going to one so I hope my issues can be helped too.
