Dealing with an Unreasonable Neighbor

Yesterday, I received a message from my tenant who’s renting my lot in the Philippines. He uses the space for his small eatery business. Unfortunately, ever since he started operating there, one of the neighbors has been constantly complaining about the noise—even when they only do their welding work in the morning.
Lately, the complaints have gotten worse. The neighbor now complains about even the smallest sounds, like the clinking of forks and spoons. My tenant used to operate 24/7, but because of all the complaints, he decided to close earlier at night and reopen around 4 AM. But still, the complaints continue.
Now he’s planning to consult a lawyer to get proper legal advice about the situation. Have you ever had to deal with unreasonable neighbors, and how did you handle it?

Oh good grief. They are being ridiculous it sounds like.
I used to have a neighbor (when I lived in a house) who let his teenage son practice in their garage with his heavy metal band. They’d leave the door up, and the entire neighborhood heard it. Everyone liked those neighbors, but when they started going past 9pm, people started to complain. They thought WE were being unreasonable.
Your tenant sounds like a very considerate neighbor considering he even shortened his hours.

Yes, my tenant has been really considerate, and it’s frustrating that even after adjusting his hours, the complaints continue. Hopefully consulting a lawyer will help him figure out the best way forward.

@annierose I hope so since it sounds like he has done nothing wrong.
