With the sky and space already conquered, scientists busy with subterranean exploitation

Theres no doubt some developed countries have already developed subterranean transport channels with roads and railroads stretching for hundreds of miles under the earth’s surface. Tunnels have been in existence for many years but most of these have been done to go through hills. With the increasing pressure on the preexisting surface and aerial transport routes, I have no problem learning of efforts by scientists and engineers being busy to come up with underground transport routes to ease movement.

I think I still most prefer travelling on the ground, as opposed to air. And while I don't mind travelling below ground, on the surface is still what I'd choose, if I had a choice. In any case, I think there are plans in my country for a subway system. I guess it's ok... Though, with the problems we have about flooding, they'd better make sure they build in good pumping systems into it.
