I went to take some Christmas cards and things for a Facebook group to the mailbox, after which I tried to do the rest of a 2,000 step walk.
When I got to 2,000, I went to the gym and did my half hour. Partway through my phone rang. It was a lady from church who does a lot of work with the Salvation Army. Sunday I had asked her if there was any volunteer work that could be done (I need help getting my mind off of missing my Mom during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays). Sunday she told me they needed bell ringers (for the donation kettles), and when she called me today she said she had talked to one of the ladies, and I could go talk to her about being a bell ringer today.
I told her that at that moment I was in the middle of something (which I was, my workout) and what time did they close? She said Tuesdays they close at four, so I have time to get down there. The trouble is, other times I've been down there, I could never find anyone. I'll see what happens--if it's God's will, it's God's will--otherwise He wants me to "distract myself from missing Mom" with something else.
I finished my workout, and then I went to the office to ask a question about asking one of the maintenance guys about cutting a rug in half so that I could use it under my desk chairs. The answer was no, because residents shouldn't ask the maintenance guys for personal favors. Okay. Maybe one of my neighbors has something that could cut the rug (no, I don't mean go dancing).
Now it's almost lunch time, and after lunch I'll go down to the Salvation Army and see if I can find anyone.
