I finally started the dishwasher. THere's a lot I should be or could be doing, but that was a big one. I warned George I've moved it so when he comes in he won't be surprised. That and I didn't want him to come in while I was moving it. It warmed up nicely and George is just in his t-shirt with the stoma exposed. It doesn't appear to be leaking or bleeding, but we'll keep an eye on it. He did eat some yogurt though. And, he has his pepsi. Much better than yesterday when I had to convince him to eat some because he was grazing all day on cheeseit bites.

Hi there! We don't have a dishwasher... so only manual dishwashing for us. I'm curious though... do you think the dishes get cleaned better with dishwashers or with manual washing? What stoma does your husband have? I haven't been able to look through your posts, just a quick scan. And what I gathered so far is that he had a stroke. Does he have the stoma because of that? Hope you and him are well as can be.

Yes, he had a stroke and was unable to safely swollow. He's still struggling, and I think it was to soon to removethe tube, but he wanted it out. The doctor who removed it, was more in agreement with me, but because he was the patient, he was wanting to respect his wishes. So we'll see how long it stays out. That being said, he's trying. Yes, while hand washing is fine, it uses more water, and can't get as hot as a dishwasher can. Dishwashers use far less water, but do a fine job washing dishes if you load the unit right.

@moirai Yes it was for his food. Yes, they do and they are stupid to try. Dishwashers can get to about 140 f, which is up there if you're talking C. And, that's far to hot to be safe for human hands. Addationally, it uses spinning blades that shoot the water in a hotter faster rate then humans can accomplish. It's for this reason it's never a good idea to try to cook in one. But, people think they are saving time and money this way.

@kaylachan Ah. So it's for his food. I see. Well, I hope he'll be able to manage ok without the tube. I suppose he's on soft foods for now? And taking it slow. Oh ok, I see. It gets hot so I guess does some disinfection too. Never had one so it didn't occur to me that it gets hot. Although, come to think of it, I do remember seeing a few of those videos of people trying to cook stuff in dishwashers.

Yesterday when I started my dishwasher, it did two weird things, the dish pod door never opened, and the dish pod was still intact within. Also, the cycle got caught on the rinse cycle, where it had to be reset. I really hope it is not a sign that the dishwasher is going to need a repair or it is going to die for good.
