...when you make a dummy of yourself in public? I went to the Grocery Outlet, and tried not to get too overly much, which is why I only brought my regular "go bag" and a larger shopping bag. When I got the the register I tried to pay with my EBT card, and the lady said I didn't have enough $$ on it--and that I was evidently over by $2.75 or something like that. So I offered to put something back, and she kept insisting (from what I could tell) that I had to give back something that was $2.whatever. Why? If I was over my card balance, what difference did it make what I gave back? I sure didn't remember the exact prices of everything I had gotten. After a few minutes of the cashier telling me what I needed to do (and me not understanding why) she said that she would cover it, and I thanked her and left. There may have been a reason, but I just couldn't understand why I had to give something back that was exactly $2 and whatever change. There may have been a reason, but she didn't explain it to me. As I was heading for the downtown bus terminal, I saw the bus I needed leaving, but I think it was only 15-20 minutes until another one came. Now I'm home, and I still have about a dozen little things to still put away. I'll have lunch, then go to the gym, since it's Wednesday and Bible study will be at church this evening. After that, I'd like to get some more Christmas cards written--particularly ones I need to send. I hope that all is going well with you in your part of myLot land!

Stacey, you weren’t wrong. She didn’t know how to do that part of her job. She must have been too embarrassed to ask for help because that is entirely doable and has been done numerous times. But you probably knew that, and were too nice to point that out. You didn’t do anything dumb.
