Air Pollution Regulations

Sparta, Tennessee

So Chris lives across the street from a rock quarry. I do mean right across. We're fighting now to do something about that. They did an unscheduled blast the other day that shook the houses along the street and much farther. Days like today you can't open the front door because the dust and smoke is so bad. If you look up most of the regulations, they say they need to be thousands of feet away from homes and yet this one is right here. Right in the middle of a neighborhood. I'm trying to help Chris fight this but it feels like a losing battle right now. I won't stop though because this is so dangerous. Not just the blasting but the dust is such a health hazard. it can cause cancer and reparatory problems. Her grandmother is going to have a freaking heart attack one of these days. Does anyone know anything that may help? I'm writing a letter now but I would love to have hard core facts to go in it.

Unfortunately, regulations are on paper and many a times violated. You should definitely write that letter. I hope that something comes up and work. We need to do what we have to do best in our capacity.

@JordanLader Yes. And people have rightly suggested involving local news and media. That can help.

I’m afraid I have nothing to add that is helpful. Maybe you can get the local news involved.

It's gonna be a long fight. There are federal regulations already. You should be getting advanced warnings. Around here they schedule field burnings according to wind conditions.

What should be done and what's going on are two different things
