Frostbite and Hypothermia

These frigid bitterly cold temperatures here this morning got me to thinking about frostbite and hypothermia and the difference between the two.
Frostbite is a localized injury caused by freezing of the skin and underlying tissues (AI). I am pretty sure I had frostbite at least twice when I was a kid not wearing gloves and making a snowman.
Hypothermia on the other hand is a systemic condition where the body loses heat faster than it can produce it, leading to a dangerously low core body temperature. (AI)
I think hypothermia happens to homeless people who are living outside in these terrible conditions.
Have you ever had either one?

I've had both back in my younger years when I was living on the streets
& "TRUST-ME" you don't want to have either 1 it's no fun to be so cold
your body aches like nothing you don't want to feel.

I came pretty close to frostbite on my feet. When you're a kid, you stay out until you can't feel your hands and feet. When I got home my feet swelled up and itched like crazy.

Interesting!
Thanks for the information. I knew there was a difference, but never bothered to research what it was.
