My childhood best friend, we're talking kindergarten age to about 4th grade, was Leslie Ann (last name here). She lived in the house behind ours on the street behind ours. Our neighborhood growing up was only 3 streets and only 4 houses had kids and Leslie Ann was 2 months older than me and lived behind me. We played in my playhouse that my dad had built me in the backyard. We played in her basement because her house had air conditioning and our house didn't. We played on her swing set and in her sandbox because she had one. She could play violin even at that young age (her mom and dad were musicians and her dad was a high school band teacher). She had long dark hair like me. I lost touch with her after my parents divorced when I was 12 and I moved two hours away from Louisville.
