Is it fair that you make an appointment to see a doctor (or any professionals) and you have to wait longer than 15 minutes because they have overbooked?

I think if you are no serious .... then it is ok but if you have urgent matters like doing a operation of course there is no excuse from the doctor unprofessional act

I try to avoid going to the doctors unless necessary.I agree priorities are important when dealing with patients.I have trouble when a doctor continually runs behind schedule due to continually overbooking

15 Minutes .... it is very little time, here in India even after making appointment you have to wait for hour and sometime they cancel appointments without informing you and you know only after reaching hospital that doctor is busy and he can't attend patients.

We had a situation like that a few days ago where we called in the AM and they gave us a PM appointment the same day. When we got there, they informed us they had made a mistake and we would not be able to see anyone for a few days.

No I don't think it is fair. If you were 15 minutes late for your appointment, you would loose your spot. If I am waiting for more than 20 minutes and I am not really sick, I will leave and reschedule. To avoid this I always try to get the first appointment in the morning or the first appointment after lunch.

If we have to wait an hour, would it be fair if we could bill them for an hour lost?(I know it will never happen, but I do believe they should be held accountable for the actions)

no i dont think its that big of a deal. sometimes things happen that are out of their control. if a patient takes longer during the appointment than expected, like if they have a lot of questions, then there is nothing they can do about it. its not their fault.
