Long story short, I moved to Bali last year because I wanted to have a better life. Over the past year, I’ve grown to like the vibe, the warm weather, and the abundance of food places. But even so, I’m still trying to adapt, especially when it comes to transportation (public transport here is still limited), the differences in food, and trying to make new friends. For those of you who have lived outside the city where you grew up, do you have any tips for living comfortably? I would life to listen any tips that maybe useful one day.

I have mostly lived in the same state (except for a few years as a child), but changed cities a couple of times. I bet when people talk to you they enjoy being around you since you seem so friendly. Hopefully, that will lead you to more and more friends.

yes, I’ve made a few friends, but they’re usually from out of town. Some of them are just here on vacation, so we only meet when they come to Bali.

@queenj Oh! That does make it more difficult.

Balinese people themselves are a bit hard to approach, they tend to be quite reserved.

What kind of work will you be doing in Bali?

I have previous work experience as a store manager in my hometown, so I’m doing the same job here in Bali. Of course, the salary is higher even though the position is the same.

@queenj The cost of living will be higher too, right? I hope you have fun in Bali!

@TheHorse well, it is. but I get more to keep it to myself than I have before so I think it’s just okay

Moving anywhere is always an adjustment. I've lived in Daytona since 2003, but moving from what's considered the oldest city to an actual city vibe, was deffently different. Just take it one day at a time, and plan ahead as much as you can.

Where I live, I have to have a car to go anywhere. Do you think you may need to buy a car for better transportation?

I’ve been thinking about buying a motorcycle lately. Maybe sometime soon? Bali isn’t a great place to drive a car. Some areas also have narrow roads, not to mention the traffic jams.
