Did Twister really need a sequel?

So, do you guys remember the 1996 Twister movie with Bill Paxton? Well if ever a movie did NOT need a sequel it's Twister. Well Twisters arrived last year. Ok , the original Twister had cool special-effects and stuff and a great soundtrack the way earlier movies did and so a fun action film but the plot was limited and the amount of times the storm hunters ran into tornadoes pretty prosperous. So this one stars Glen Powell, the actor that is in quite a few movies these days but nobody really knows who he is until someone taps you on the shoulder and says 'hey, thats Glen Powell! To be fair that was also Bill Paxton's career in a nutshell. Glen is yet to have that breakthrough movie to move him up to the big time. This is not that movie. Powell was in Top Gun : Maverick , his most famous movie leading up to Twisters. I know, you still dont know who he is. Top Gun is apt as that is the plot for Twisters, hotshot storm chaser ( English actor Daisy Edgar - Jones) loses her nerve after a close call with a T5 and gets a safe desk job in the weather trade instead. A few years later she is pulled back in by her storm chasing by not to be love interest ( Darrell McCormack) , who has a revolutionary thing-a- me-jig storm chaser idea to 3D plot the tornados. He has the hots for her but she's not interested but thinks his idea would help save lives. They pitch up in Kansas for a 'big storm event' with fellow storm chasers and their trucks massing for the event. It's a mix of modern day storm chasers, hick storm chasers, social media influencers, tourists and all sorts locked and loaded. It's going to be chaos, handsome Tyler Owens( Ford) with his 2 million followers, online reckless and unconventional chaser, the type of handsome guy Kate should not be interested in but you never know! What's not cool about firing fireworks into a T3 funnell for a Facebook live feed? So the plot is pretty much the same as film one and , sadly, the tornados look like film one and the CGI not that great. There is , of course, constant tornados threatening to hurl the cast into the next state and a few close calls. Again, it's everything you would expect, looking up into the eye of the storm funnels, hanging on to things grimly so not to be sucked up into the air, flying cows and men that dont look like they have washed for a while. I was hoping it would be one of those silly action movies that surprise you and good fun, like Transformers , but sadly it was 3/5 forgettable stuff. The soundtrack is surprisingly forgettable and the acting texted in, Therefore it has no real redeeming features. Again, why was this movie made?
