The winter storm we've been waiting for

This is the winter storm that I knew would show up at some point cause we haven't had 1 like this in a long time here since we moved to Indiana in 08 & we got 4 ft of it that year, so now we have this 1. We're ready for it, we keep up with things like this a week ahead of time so we can get prepared we look at what's coming a week behind what the weather forecasters are showing on the maps. So that way we have plenty of time to get what we need B-4 every 1 goes into panic mode the car is full of gas, we have plenty of food & plenty of salt to melt the snow, hope your ready.

what about extra blankets ? & batteries for flashlights, keeping extra water on hand is good.

@kaylachan When we get up in age & our health catches up with us we have to be prepared as much as we can not just for the weather but for our health & sanity.

That's what I think is the best idea. Warm, warm is good. Stay indoors

Supposedly, the apartment complex will salt our sidewalks, but I’m ready in every other way. I’ve got a charged light, power banks, bottled water, human food, pet food, and medicine. Anything else, I’ll be okay. The city has already pretreated the roads, and will be out again first thing in the morning. Now, getting out of the parking lot might be tough, but I’m in an SUV so my odds are higher than the little car parked next to mine right now that I can.

"will be out again first thing in the morning" do you have stuff in the car in case you get stuck somewhere like some extra blankets & hand heating pads & some dry foods you can eat, most people don't think of them things.

that's not good, you are in a bad way when you don't have extra propane tanks, if we had to have it I would get extra B-4 winter gets here & not use them till we needed them just for winter & nothing else to have on hand.

@snowy22315 Like what ? I have portable heaters set on 80 & it's cold enough that they can't keep up, it's 60 degrees in the cabin.

@LindaOHio Do you have a place to buy wood or someone who cuts wood that you could get enough to keep the place warm & save some $.

I wish we had 1 that is attached to 1 of our places so when we get this kind of weather it comes on automatically, But we don't & the trailer wasn't built to have 1 but I might could see if the cabin could have 1.

Panic buying?? Oh yes it's a glorious thing to see Every last packet of pasta gone Toilet paper, batteries, gas canisters, Petrol stations pumped dry The retailers must love it. How long will the storm last? I hope everyone stays.safe.and.it turns out to be not so bad after all.

Well from what they're saying is suppose to be cold with this 1 till the end of the mon & that's like a solid wk. Panic buying is a thing for a lot of people, but not us we make a list through out the mon, so when we go to pay bills we do all our shopping, & while we are making a list we keep a close eye on the weather. So while we're watching the weather, I watch what's going on "behind the weather" their talking about at the time, cause that's what we are more interested in. Specially in winter, cause we live in a ravine & a small area that doesn't get salted, so we have to be on our guard to get prepared for it so we're not caught without.

I learned back in fla with all the hurricanes I lived through to prepare early & for the winters to get enough wood to last the season.

I'm sure glad that I can get prepared, I don't relax or be at peace if I'm not, I don't like not being prepared.
